    Call for volunteers!

We're planning an exciting CESBCY conference for November 2018 and we need your help! The conference theme will be "What's in your evaluation toolbox? Learning from each other" and will be explicitly informed by the results of our recent 2018 CESBCY Membership Engagement Survey. We have a number of potential volunteer roles to match you interest and availability starting with a number of key roles on our planning committee. Join us to help make this regional conference the best one yet!

Evaluation practice is rapidly evolving and new tools and methods are constantly emerging. What’s a busy evaluator to do? Come learn from your peers! The purpose of this conference is to encourage the sharing of pragmatic and innovative tools, approaches and lessons learned. A key goal is for every attendee to go back to their work with something new to apply in their work. The conference is an opportunity to strengthen the existing evaluation network in BC while making connections with new and emerging evaluators. Its focus is on building on CESBCY’s culture as an innovative and supportive evaluation community.

The CES-CESEF Student Evaluation Case Competition Working Group is seeking a volunteer to lead our fund-raising activities. The individual will work closely with our current fund-raising lead for the competition at the 2018 CES Conference and then take over this role.  A commitment of a few hours a week is needed – mainly from January to June each year.  Our fund-raising activity is focused on sponsorships from evaluation firms and individual CES members.  If you have an interest in establishing and maintaining funding relationships with leading members of the evaluation community, and in contributing to this high profile event at the Conference – then this would be a rewarding volunteer opportunity.  If you are interested, or would like to discuss further, please email Brian McGowan with a short bio.

We are looking for some concrete recommendations to help us in changing our current staffing structure. We have operated with a management collective (of 4 staff) for decades and are wanting to transition to a more hierarchical structure. This will require a change of job descriptions including: clarifying duties for each position, hours, benefits, accountability structure. We are looking for help with developing new job descriptions based on the evaluation of the station's staffing needs and a recommendation for some effective ways to address them.
